In Ayurveda treatment of toxins is our primary concern to avoid disease. Detoxing in therefore a key part of an Ayurvedic lifestyle.

Why Detox

Spring is a good time to ramp up your Detoxing efforts in order to overcome the common signs of imbalance resulting from Winter and possibly toxins (known as ama in Ayurveda).

While there are many factors that contribute to ama, among those common are:

  • Digestive disorder

  • Nutritional factors

  • Stress

  • Repressed emotions

  • Constipation of other obstruction of the waste systems

  • Kapha Dosha imbalance (common at the end of winter), which may look like:

  • lethargy

  • stagnation

  • heavy mood / winter blues

  • excess mucus

  • allergies

  • fatigue

  • slowing in digestion, resulting in build up of toxins (ama)

  • heaviness and weight gain*

*no guilt needed - winter was the perfect time to indulge!! Seriously. The extra weight is needed in Winter and will serve you in the season of re-building your reserves.
